The flashes of light baroque Valencia

The Light of Images presents an exhibition under the name of "The Glory of Baroque" features more than 300 works of art in three temples of Valencia.
The eighth exhibition organized by The Light of the Images is presented as a tribute to art baroque generated in Valencia, as the art style more representative of the Valencian history and that best defines its Mediterranean character.
The exhibition has already received over 21,000 visitors since its opening last December in the Almudín, and the churches of San Esteban, San Martin and San Juan de la Cruz, all in the historical center of Valencia.
The Glory of Baroque shows these three temples that have recovered their splendor after its recent restoration. 144 have also been restored artworks, including paintings, sculptures, goldsmiths, fabrics and papers. The interiors have thousands of works of authors such as José de Ribera, Antonio Villanueva, José Camarón, Ignacio Vergara, Peter Paul Rubens, Francisco Ribalta or Jeronimo Jacinto de Espinosa.
Each site shows a thematic block: Valencian Baroque painting in the church of San Esteban, sculpture and jewelry in the church of San Martin, and devotion to the Virgin Mary as artistic icon in the church of San Juan de la Cruz.
The church of St. Martin shows the oldest book that remains in the Region. History of the codex is Antiquitatis Iudaicae. From beautiful iudaico Josephus, on loan from the archives of the Seu. This exhibition has allowed the collection of Valencian Baroque sacred music, performed by the choir and cathedral under the direction of Luis Garrido. These pieces of music of Juan Bautista Comes (Valencia, 1582? -1643) And John Cabanilles (Algemesí, 1644-1712), considered the greatest exponents of Baroque Valencia.
The exhibition will remain open until September 2010.
