All-or nearly all, the traditions are a mixture of religiosity, secular roots and passed from parent to child without exception. The formation of the culture of any people, leaving us to remember specific celebrations, and so endure through time.
And San Isidro was not going to be less. The Madrid on this day, May 15 of each year, walk in pilgrimage to the Prado de San Isidro, and spend the day with family and friends, as well as anyone who has just come to enjoy the pilgrimage, eating a delicious cooked outdoors.
And also visit the beautiful church of San Isidro and to drink the water that flows from the source of the saint, seeking health and purification of souls, as stipulated in religious canons. That's easy to find many people wearing the traditional way what is known as chulapos or chulapas, with their costumes in whom the piece is inspired musical Zarzuela , known as "La Verbena de la Paloma"
"When you go to Madri, chulapa mine, I will make Lavapiés Empress ..." Thus says the schottische (and that chulapos pronounced "Madri" as it sounds) dance typical of Madrid, and known internationally, performing with equal panache young adults. Figure and bustle of waffle and organ, whose music of the past, and those rich wafers accompany the party all day, are the delight of locals and visitors.
Also, if you do not want to bring food from home, you can buy in the bars spiked tortilla, chorizo and typical food dishes like paella or stew.
So are the festivals of Spain, popular and harmonized, welcoming neighbors and strangers equally.
