Every year in the month of September-the next 17 to 26 - San Sebastian displays your carpets and the city becomes European cinema.

It is when the glamor takes over the environment, raising passions on the big screen and its protagonists. It is easy to see near the flags, De Niro, Al Pacino, or them, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lopez, Cayetana Guillén Cuervo ... and a long, long etc.. that do not fit on one page. And this is not a list of celebrity pictures, obviously.

San Sebastian, it's called in the language of his people, is a city in northern Spain, on the coast of Bay of Biscay. Very close to the border with France, and capital of the province of Guipuzcoa. A jewel, like yesterday we were talking about Vitoria in the Basque Autonomous Community.

Its population is 190,000, approximately, and in summer with its attractive bay of La Concha, this figure can overcome distance.

San Sebastian sits on the shores of the Cantabrian Sea, feared and bronquista in other areas, leaving here several beach-the best known of La Concha, in the Bay of Naples, and a small harbor in the lee of Mount Urgull. It has also other mountains. Both coastal and inland headlands, with its highest peak, Urdaburu (602 meters) in an enclave of the same name. Although the terrain is rugged plains are some of some length in the valleys, plains, where a large part of the town.

It was founded around 1180 by Sancho the Wise, King of Navarre. Born to be seaport of Navarre, and initially fulfills its mission as such. Although Guipúzcoa from the year 1200 pays homage to the Castilian king Alfonso VIII, the enemy of Sancho the Strong.

And this singular fact, for the merchants of San Sebastian this change will turn to positive, as the port goes from being a small state in decline (Navarra), doomed to fall under the French dynasty, to serve landlocked much larger of a monarchy, the Spanish.

After these data more or less technical, it should be noted that San Sebastian San Sebastian or, if you prefer, is a modernist city, peaceful and welcoming.

Today, as we talked at first, contains a sample of major European film. What prevents him not at all, but it helps, its main source of income is tourism. So much so that it becomes a candidate for European Capital of Culture 2016. That's nothing!

Also fraught with history, living history, which sets and beautiful golden ages, a Frenchman would say Belle Epoque, as that is when the death of King Alfonso XII, his widow Queen Maria Cristina, decided to go there every summer. Long summers from late May until late September, delivering to neighbors and visitors to the city, an aura of nobility and wealthy manners.

Other times less so, but all it was, is and will always be a city of privilege. Visit or live in it, or just spend a few days off.

Its neighborhoods, monuments, and all of it, is a paragon of refinement of few comparisons.

Its food and festivals will not talk, because we have to re-emphasize some things their entrenched suburbs, which, as you know, give character to major cities like this. At that time, it will be very close, we mention everything else.
