Seville is a Spanish city located southwest of the Iberian Peninsula, capital of Andalusia, it is also of the province. It is only 20 m above sea level, in full and Countryside Vega of the Guadalquivir River, and beside it.
With 699,145 inhabitants (National Statistics Institute of Spain (INE) 2007), Seville is Spain's fourth largest city by population. In addition, its metropolitan area is the fourth largest, with 1,450,214 inhabitants (INE 2007) 1,849,268 of the total in the province. One of the big shopping centers and art of southern Spain and one of the cities with a more pronounced personality across the country.
It is a city of considerable interest, with numerous monuments, squares, gardens, churches, etc.. Retains the greatest historical and artistic Europe. Among its most famous monuments, the Giralda (old minaret of the mosque, today the cathedral bell tower) and the Torre del Oro are the two most popular.
In their neighborhoods, Triana, La Macarena, Santa Cruz, Los Remedios, Heliopolis and Nervión are the most famous. La Giralda, the Cathedral, the Alcazar, the Archivo de Indias and its surroundings were declared World Heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1987.
